The Sunshine State, Florida!!!!

Welcome to Florida and welcome to CRUISE COCOA’s first blog. We would like to introduce you to the rich history, culture, environment, and the wildlife that inhabits our beautiful state of FLORIDA. 

Depending on where you are from, some of the first things that people think of when they hear “Florida” are; the world-famous, spring break beach getaways, snowbirds, Disney and of course the notorious “FLORIDA man” is always making headlines. 

Florida is the southernmost state on the eastern seacoast. It boasts a coastline of 1,146 miles. It’s a peninsula that is surrounded on three sides. By the Gulf of Mexico, the Florida straits and the Atlantic Ocean. Florida has over 4,510 barrier islands including where CRUISE COCOA calls home, Indian River Lagoon. It is one of the most diverse estuaries in North America. It continues all the way down to the Florida keys.

Most of the state elevation is located near sea level. The northern part only rising to a grand total of 345 ft above. This proximity to the water makes Florida a boating paradise. From kayaking through the springs and local waterways, fishing both inland and offshore, floating on a boat watching the dolphins and manatees play, all the way to sailing off into the sunset there is something here for everyone out on the water.  

Feeling Hot Hot Hot

The tropical climate is known for being “Hot Hot Hot” in the summers. The winters tend to be very mild making it the perfect place to get away from the snowy winters up north. Wintertime you can find snowbirds frolicking in the ocean’s waves. While the locals huddle around the many outdoor restaurants and bars. “Roll out” heaters with the understanding that anything under 75 degrees is sweatpants and hoodie weather. People have been flocking to Florida for centuries.
