Miami Vice: The Vibrant and Iconic Cocktail 🍹🌴

The Miami Vice is a cocktail that embodies the sunny, colorful, and carefree spirit of Miami itself. Known for its layered appearance and tropical flavors, this drink combines two beloved cocktails — the Piña Colada and the Strawberry Daiquiri — creating a visually stunning and deliciously fruity drink that’s perfect for hot summer days, beach parties, or anytime you want to feel like you’re on vacation in Miami.

A Brief History of the Miami Vice Cocktail

The Miami Vice cocktail emerged in the 1980s, inspired by the vibrant and exotic atmosphere of Miami, as well as the cultural influence of the popular TV show Miami Vice (1984–1990). The show, known for its stylish depiction of Miami’s nightlife, fashion, and fast-paced lifestyle, became an iconic symbol of the era.

The cocktail itself is a combination of two fan-favorite frozen drinks, the Piña Colada and Strawberry Daiquiri, blended together to create a beautiful, colorful layered effect. It’s often served in a tall, curvy glass, showcasing its red and white colors. The Miami Vice became popular in Miami’s beach bars and tropical resorts, capturing the essence of the city’s fun-loving vibe and making it a must-try for cocktail lovers.

  • Blending Technique: To get the perfect layered effect, pour the strawberry daiquiri mixture slowly over the back of a spoon to ensure it floats on top of the piña colada layer.
